Another good weekend is in the books for the CP-Baseball-Family. Here’s a look at some of the noteworthy performances from the last few days:
Corey Kluber (Indians) was dominant in 8 innings of work on Sunday. Corey struck out 13 White Sox, including 7 straight at one point. Despite allowing just 3 hits and 1 earned run, he did not factor in the decision. Box Score
Steve Cishek (Marlins) converted an impressive 4-out save to help the Marlins complete a sweep of the Atlanta Braves on Thursday evening. Steve struck out 1 batter in the 5-4 victory while earning his 6th save of the season. Box Score
Brandon Gomes (Rays) earned his 2nd win of the season in Boston on Thursday, tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. He returned the following night at Yankee Stadium to toss 2 more scoreless innings. Thursday’s Box Score
Tim Collins (Royals) returned from a dominant rehab stint in Triple-A (struck out 10 of 14 batters) to throw 2 scoreless innings of relief against the Detroit Tigers. Tim allowed just a single hit and struck out 1 batter. Box Score
Tyler Beede (Vanderbilt) earned his 7th win of the season, striking out 7 batters in 5 innings of work against Missouri. Vanderbilt won the contest by a score of 5-3. Box Score
Adam Ravenelle (Vanderbilt) helped the Commodores complete a sweep of Missouri with 3.1 impressive innings of scoreless relief on Sunday afternoon. Adam allowed just 1 hit in the 3-1 win. Box Score
Billy Bereszniewicz (SUNY Binghamton) was 5 for 8 at the plate in a double header against U-Mass Lowell on Saturday afternoon. In the first game, Billy was 3 for 4 with 2RBI and 3 runs scored in a 10-6 win. Box Score
John Gorman (Boston College) worked a no-hitter into the 8th inning of a game which BC would ultimately win 3-2 against Pitt. John struck out a career high 8 batters and allowed just 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks. He did not factor in the decision. Recap
The CP guys down at Bryant University carried the offense in a 5-4 Friday afternoon win against Sacred Hart. Carl Anderson, John Mullen, AJ Zarozny, Buck McCarthy and Dan Cellucci combined to go 8 for 17 at the plate, including 2RBI and 4 of the 5 runs scored by Bryant in the game. Box Score
